About Us
Our 12 acre farm is located in the beautiful Kittitas Valley, near the small town of Kittitas, east of Ellensburg. We organically grow; produce, herbs, cut flowers, and raise Nubian Dairy goats, sheep and free range chickens.
We take a holistic approach to farming, and do not use any synthetic pesticides, only naturally derived products from the farm to sustainably raise our crops. We are passionate about what we do, and want to share that with others. We want people to experience good food, to know where it came from and how it was grown. By employing biodynamic and sustainable farming practices, which work with the land, we minimize our impact on the environment. We rotate our crops every season, and use cover crops.
We have roost poles to encourage the birds of prey to come in and hunt field and crop vermin. Watching a pair of Kestrels, Harriers or a Red Tail Hawk working the fields is a beautiful site.
We practice pasture rotation. The sheep go in and clean up the grass; the goats follow up and take care of the rest.
We do have our share of growing challenges. The number one challenge is the wind. It is a constant force in the Kittitas Valley. It does help keep fungal disease low, as the plants never stay moist for long. But it is often not very forgiving on some of our foliage crops.
Our other challenge is low precipitation. We rely heavily on the use of irrigation. We use a gravity fed handline sprinkler system. While it is more time consuming moving sections of pipe from one crop to another, it is a more efficient and conservative method than with flood rill type irrigation.
